12107899_10154366668620961_5529537663500022800_nWelcome to the 12 Days of Christmas Blog hop hosted by the amazing Lisa at Honeybearz Designs! This is my 3rd year of participating in this hop.  I get so excited each and every year to sign up to participate! I would like to personally thank the amazing Elf Lisa for hosting such a fun event.  This year I am doing something different.  I am going to post a different DIY Holiday Christmas bulb using simple craft supplies.  I hope that you will come back everyday to see all 12 Ornaments.  I have been hard at work in Santa’s Workshop to bring you fun projects each and every day! Before we go any further though I want to make sure that you stopped here after visiting our Guest Elf- Julie (HERE) if you need to start at the beginning be sure to click HERE.

This first ornament was inspired by my sweet friend Donna.  You can check out Donna and all of her amazing creations HERE.  I learned this technique while I was at the Create Make Celebrate Retreat hosted by Laura Kelly Walters.  Donna taught us one of her awesome techniques using Sculpey products.

madge and donna

I haven’t used clay before when crafting so this was a new experience for me! Donna was a fantastic teacher.  We took a plastic Christmas Ornament and covered it with Sculpey Polyform Model Air.  Midge and I were stoked to try out the clay and use the Sculpey Tools too!!!

Donna then taught us how to sculpt cheeks, the mouth, and the nose.  We were able to do whatever we liked with our snowman.  This is how mine looked BEFORE it had dried.

The tools made it super easy and this was so fun! We allowed our snowmen to dry overnight.

Then it was time to paint! This is what my snowman ended up looking like.  I hope that you like this fun Christmas Ornament. Don’t be afraid to try new things when it comes to those plastic or glass ornaments that may need to be up-cycled.

Clay Snowman 1

I used several different colors of paint to create the look of my snowman.  I also used molding paste to create a little bit of texture.  I made my snowman hat out of pattern paper and used some black ribbon around the hat.  Spraying the ornament with glitter spray, was the final touch.

I am so excited on how this fun snowman turned out! Be sure to check out Donna HERE.

Next up in this hop is the super talented ELF- Ashley be sure to check out what she is making in Santa’s Workshop.
